The Blue Valley Communications Department works hard to stay on top of news in the district so we can help our community keep up-to-date. Following are a few examples of what the Communications Department can do you for.

  • We are available to answer questions from parents, employees and community members either in person, or by e-mail, fax or telephone at (913) 239-4043.
  • We serve in a consulting capacity on various inter-district publications and projects.
  • We provide information on legislative updates, weather-related school closings and delays, weekly district meetings and summaries of Board of Education meetings.
  • We coordinate special events such as retirement receptions, new school dedications, All-Staff Celebration, and more.
  • We provide district information to individuals and community organizations.
  • We maintain an archive of education-related stories published in community newspapers.
  • We update the district’s Web site to reflect the most recent news and events.
  • We offer a free Golden Age Activity pass to anyone in the district 60 years and older. The pass allows free admission to school district-sponsored events. For more information about this, call (913) 239-4043.
  • The Communications Department creates various publications to inform both the Blue Valley school community and the general public.
    Our publications include:
    • it’s friday! – weekly newsletter for staff members
    • Blue Valley Today – newsmagazine for the district community
    • Parent District Handbook – complete district information for parents
    • Annual Report and Executive Summary – annual community accountability report
    • Board Briefs – latest news from the Blue Valley Board of Education
    • Did You Know? – a summary of honors and accomplishments by the Blue Valley students and staff
    • Customer Assessment – a biennial customer satisfaction survey on local and national education topics
  • The Communications Department works hard to keep the local media updated and aware of happenings in the Blue Valley School District. We frequently send out releases about Blue Valley events and news.
  • The Blue Valley School District is proud of the numerous achievements of our students and staff. In the Communications Department, we are proud to bring you the stories of those individuals who are doing great work, both in the classroom and in extracurricular or co-curricular activities, clubs and organizations.
  • Blue Valley Television is your window to Blue Valley Schools. BVTV18’s duel purpose allows the district to bring patrons news and stories related to the district while providing students an authentic learning experience in the field of broadcasting.
