The district employs the services of a weather forecasting agency to more accurately assess weather conditions. The decision to cancel or delay school due to inclement weather will be made by 6 a.m. At that time, the district will notify major television channels and radio stations. If the decision is made to cancel classes, the district will notify the following media outlets by 6 a.m.: WDAF-TV (Ch. 4; external link), KCTV (Ch. 5; external link), KMBC-TV (Ch. 9; external link), KSHB-TV (Ch. 41; external link), as well as KCUR (external link), KFKF (external link), KBEQ (external link), KMBZ (external link). and WDAF (external link) radio stations.

One-Hour Delayed Start - Elementary classes will begin at 9:35 a.m., one hour later than the regular schedule. Breakfast will not be served on these mornings. Lunch will be served according to its regular schedule. Dismissal will be at the normal time of 3:40 p.m. Middle/high schools will also start one hour later than their normal time.

School Closings - All school activities will be canceled for the day unless students and parents are notified otherwise.
