LKE PTO Communications and Volunteer Opportunities 2009-10

There are many opportunities to stay informed and get involved at Lakewood Elementary School.  The PTO cannot sponsor the various activities without parent support. Teachers will use these distribution lists to communicate with parents and PTO chairperson will use this to communicate with volunteers.  Please follow the instructions below to register and indicate your children's grades.  In addition, please register for any volunteer interests.

1)   Go to www.ptomanager.com (Lakewood Middle parents already on PTO Manager will need to create new registration for Lakewood Elementary).

a)   If have previously registered at Lakewood Elementary, Log In and proceed with your updates. 

b)   If you are a new user  to the system or unsure:

i)   Click on "Register" in the lower left corner.  Enter "Lakewood Elementary" and "Kansas" , then click "Search" to find our school.  Then click on "Lakewood Elementary" to proceed.

ii)   In the lower right corner, click on "Click here to register".

iii) If the system says you are registered for Lakewood Elementary (not Lakewood Middle), return to the login page as instructed.  Use "Forgot Password" as needed.  

2)   Once you have signed in or created a new account, follow the on-screen instructions to complete your profile.  Note:  Due to privacy concerns, please DO NOT add address or ANY student information.   

This website is the preferred way to sign up for communications or to volunteer.  Hard copies may be submitted.  

Communication Distribution Lists & Volunteer Interests

    3rd grade Bike Rodeo - Set up and facilitate safety events for 3rd graders on their bikes.

    5th Grade Celebration - Help plan, facilitate, raise funds for May celebration.

    Art Awareness - Present master artist's works; all materials provided.

    Book Fair Volunteer - Work one or more shifts during fall & spring semester; no planning involved.

    Book Fair Dinner - Plan, setup, sell tickets and assist with serving and clean-up.

    Carnival- Be on the planning committee, plan and set up games, food sales, and clean up.

    Carnival volunteer - Volunteer for a two hour shift.

    Chat and Chew- Lead book talk discussion group during lunch hour, and contact parents of the day.

    Community service - Assist students with projects at events.

    Doughnuts for Dads- Work Breakfast buffet and drink stations.

    Muffins for Moms- Work Breakfast buffet and drink station.

    Fall Fundraiser - Sort and deliver products to classroom.


    Field day - Facilitate games/stations during field day.

    Garden Club & School Beautification - Work 30+ minutes in LKE Butterfly garden on schedule dates, also coordinate decoration of school entrance planters.

    Ice Cream Social - Coordinate & serve at 1 hour event held 2 days prior to school starting.

    Kindergarten Roundup - Orient incoming Kindergarten student and families.

    Health Screenings - Assist nurse as needed; usually in September, exact date is TBD.

    Multi-cultural Day - Organize and execute various activities and presentation.

    Principals' coffee and teacher appreciation - Set up coffee for principal, make bake goods, recognize teachers and staff.

    Red Ribbon Week - Daily activities to promote drug awareness.

    Safety Awareness - Volunteer for two hour shifts for fire& bus safety.

    School Pictures- Volunteer for shifts to expedite classroom picture schedule.

    School Supplies- Cover two hour shifts during sales events.

Yearbook - Create page layouts in paw print yearbook; training provided.

    Spirit Wear Sales Team - Work one or more shifts during one or more of three sales (August, September and April); no planning involved.

    Staff Appreciation Volunteer - Assist with various events throughout the year; no planning involved.
