VPE Discipline Rubric

A rubric based discipline system will work to integrate the following strategies to reduce physical and verbal aggression.  At VPE our staff has worked to do the following:

• Create uniform and clear expectations for behavior that apply school wide.
• Create a discipline system for aggression that outlines predictable, escalating consequences.
• Create and maintain positive staff-student interaction.
• Consistent acknowledgement of positive behavior.
• Create structured opportunities for aggressive youth to reflect on and learn from their behavior.
• Support targets of bullying behaviors and for young people who need friends.
• Promote classroom instruction in emotional literacy, problem solving, and conflict resolution.
• Provide bystander training, support and empowerment
