How do I enroll for a virtual class?
Enrollment in online courses during the academic school year is conducted by the high school counselors. Only the high school counselors can make student schedule revisions during the fall or spring semesters. Summer class enrollment is done online through the Blue Valley Summer School site located at www.bluevalleyk12.org. Summer enrollment opens around March 1st and remains open until classes filled.
What is the fee for an online course?
During the school year students can opt to take an online class as one of their 7 classes and not pay a fee. Online course taken in addition to 7 classes have a fee of $250.00 per class per semester. Fees are paid at the high school registrar’s office or through Parents Online. Summer classes are paid online at the time of enrollment.

Driver's Education courses are $275.
What's included in the virtual classroom?
Courses include video, audio, online quizzes, discussion forums, blogs, assignments, and projects. All virtual education courses require students to submit their work through the classroom. Textbooks and supplemental resources are available in the courses. Students who require an actual copy of the materials can obtain them through the high school libraries.
How do I communicate with my instructor?
Virtual education instructors communicate with the students through the collaboration tools located in the course and through electronic mail.
What types of technical support is available?

Blue Valley Virtual Education staff will provide technical support to the online teacher, students and parents. At the beginning of each semester, Virtual Education staff members meet with each student for a mandatory course orientation. Course materials and required information is covered during the orientation session. Each virtual course contains a Get Help section that includes handouts and tutorials covering the online course tools. Technical support is also available to students via email (rasquith@bluevalleyk12.org) or via telephone at 913-239-4344.

How much time should I expect to spend on this class?
Students should plan to spend approximately 4-6 hours per week on each virtual course.
How do I access the Virtual Education course?

The Virtual Education website is http://bluevalleyk12.blackboard.com. All users are required to have a username and password.

Are the courses self-paced?
The virtual courses are self-paced. Students are provided with pacing guidelines to keep them moving through the coursework and on track. Courses have specific end dates. Students who require additional time must contact their instructor.
How will I receive my grades?
Students will have access to their grades through the virtual classroom and through the district’s gradebook software. Progress reports and final grades are released at the same time as traditional classes.
