The Blue Valley School District is pleased to announce the district's 2013 Summer Academy. The Summer Academy is comprised of traditional face-to-face classes and virtual education options and is available to any student who is currently enrolled in a Blue Valley high school. Registration for the Summer Academy opens on March 1^st and will close on April 2^nd for the virtual education courses and May 10^th for the regular education courses.

BVHS Parents, We are pleased to be able to share with you that Blue Valley High School recently received the Governor's Achievement Award from the Kansas State Department of Education. What follows is an explanation of this award. Forty-two Kansas elementary schools, 11 middle/junior high schools and 18 high schools were recently recognized as part of the sixth annual Governor's Achievement Awards, honoring top performing schools in the state. To receive this prestigious award, schools must have achieved the Standard of Excellence in both reading and mathematics for 2012 and have made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in both reading and mathematics and one additional measure in 2012. For elementary schools and middle/junior high schools the additional AYP measure is attendance and for high schools the measure is graduation rate. Additionally, the school must have been among the top 5 percent of schools in both reading and mathematics on the 2012 state assessments at its respective level (i.e. elementary schools, middle/junior high schools, or high schools). This is the fourth time that Blue Valley High School has earned this distinction. Congratulations to students, staff, and parents for a job very well done!!! Sincerely, Scott Bacon, Principal

Seven BVHS students are finalists in the 2013 Competition for National Merit Scholarships:  Calvin L. Cochran, Jason S. Entgelmeier, John Joseph Lesko, Samuel J. Proulx, Sean S. Templemore-Finlayson, Rowena J. Xia, and Asim Hussain Zaidi.

On a related note, five students are identified as Candidates for the Presidential Scholars Award.  They are:  Calvin Cochran, Jason Entgelmeier, John Joseph Lesko, Rowena Xia, and Asim Zaidi.

Earlier this school year, we learned that Calvin Cochran had achieved a perfect score (a 36) on the ACT.

In September, 2012 the students and staff of Blue Valley High School were notified of their recognition by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School for 2012.

A special assembly was held on November 16, 2012, including community members, dignitaries from around the country, and most of all, the entire faculty and student body received the official plaque for being  an "Exemplary High Performing" school.  

Thanks to our community for the excellent support provided to our school.  The hard work of students, dedication of staff, and commitment of patrons are all factors in making each day a Great Day to be a Tiger!

Blue Valley Schools has developed an outstanding new resource center with information to help parents ensure our students are using online resources and social networking in a manner that is safe and appropriate. From preventing bullying to avoiding sharing of personal data, please check out the links and helps for teaching web safety to all.

Each student must have a signed a permission form and agreement to follow District Policies regarding technology use in order to have access to email, grades, and using school computers.  If any student has not completed this form, new students to the district, etc.  please minimize ANY down time and lack of access by following the link below to download the appropriate form, getting both the the student AND parent/guardian signatures and returning the form to the BVHS office ASAP.
