Two Bits for Turkeys... It is time again to show the generosity and KINDNESS of the CHE community by helping families in need. We are asking for donations to help provide food for Thanksgiving for local families through Blue Valley Multi-Service Center.  As the students come into school Nov. 10 – 21 we will have a place for them to deposit their donation. They will write something they are thankful for on a feather for our turkeys in the front hall.  To give in more than one way, maybe your student could do a job for you, a neighbor or a relative to earn the money they donate for others.  Thank you in advance for helping to make someone’s holiday special.

With the weather getting colder it can only mean it is time to sign up for the Winter Kickball League.  Interested grade 3, 4 and 5 students are welcome to join this after school club.  The season kicks off on January 15.  The registration form can be found on the school’s web page under eDocuments, in the school office or from your child’s teacher.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we wanted to invite the community to join us for the 11th Annual Thanksgiving Friendship Luncheon on Tuesday, November 25.  This special event has been a huge success in the past with grandparents, aunts, uncles, college-aged siblings and other guests joining us for a traditional holiday lunch and friendship.  The registration form is on the web site under eDocuments and included as an attachment with this communication.  We anticipate another strong turnout and hope to see you there.

Great news...The after school Cheetah Study Den will be offered two days each week starting October 27. Every  Monday (starting 10/27) and Thursday (our current date), students in grades 1-5 are invited to attend from 3:45-4:30pm.  Certified staff are available to support students along with many available learning resources.  This a great way to work on out of class activities, Study Island, etc.  This fantastic program is made available through your generous donations to Take Stock in Cedar Hills.

The peanut product safer learning evironment has been updated to "Nut Safer". Thank you for your continued support of this practice for of our classrooms/learning areas.  A complete listing of approved food items can be found under "Forms and Documents". Part of our comprehensive, proactive plan is to limit the consumption of nut products in classrooms.  This nut product elimination will go beyond healthy type snacks (peanut butter crackers) to include birthday treats and food products enjoyed at the three classroom parties. We will continue to serve peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in our dining room and a "sack lunch" could certainly include products restricted in classrooms.  There will continue to be a "nut safer" lunch table available to children. This listing will also be used for the three designated classroom parties.  In an effort to protect all children and to continue to have safety as our number one priority, only items from the listing will be accepted for distribution at school.  Although it would be impossible to guarantee a totally nut-free environment, with your support and effort we can make additional strides in making all children safe while at Cedar Hills.  Thank you for your understanding of this very important matter.
