Calling all future Cheetahs…incoming kindergarten students for the 2015-16 school year.  On Thursday, February 5 (6:30pm) and Friday, February 6 (9:00am) we will conduct enrollment meetings for parents…you only need to attend one of them. Parents will complete the registration documents to begin the enrollment process, please bring original birth certificate and immunization document to be copied.   If you could share this information with neighbors, friends and new families that would be very helpful.

As part of our ongoing strategy to enhance our communications with our parents, CHE has set up a school Twitter account (@CedarHillsElem).  We will use Twitter as an additional communications outlet for our parents, staff and community.  By “following” the CHE Twitter feed, or “tweets,” those interested will be able to stay up-to-date on activities occurring in the classrooms, student success stories, school events, and more. We hope you will enjoy this quick and casual communications tool.
Those interested can follow Cedar Hills Elementary School by visiting: https://twitter.com/CedarHillsElem

“Souper” Bowl Food Drive…Are you ready for the big game? Who do you want to win? Let us know by bringing in a non-perishable item and putting it on the side of the front bulletin board that represents the team you want to win. The items we collect will go to Blue Valley Multi Service for people in our community who are in need. We will collect until Friday, Jan. 30 and then announce which team CHE students favor. When you make a donation you will have a chance to predict the winner/score. We will be passing out a small piece of paper for students to predict the score of the big game. These will be posted on the front bulletin board.

Great news...The after school Cheetah Study Den will be offered two days each week starting October 27. Every  Monday (starting 10/27) and Thursday (our current date), students in grades 1-5 are invited to attend from 3:45-4:30pm.  Certified staff are available to support students along with many available learning resources.  This a great way to work on out of class activities, Study Island, etc.  This fantastic program is made available through your generous donations to Take Stock in Cedar Hills.

Last chance to order a Cedar Hills Yearbook!  If you did not order a CHE yearbook during school registration, you will receive a bright yellow flyer next week in your child’s backpack.  This will be the LAST opportunity to order a 2014-2015 yearbook.  The deadline to return the form is Monday, February 9th.  Yearbooks cost $15 and the check is payable to CHE PTO.

IMPORTANT Information UPDATE
The peanut product safer learning evironment has been updated to "Nut Safer". Thank you for your continued support of this practice for of our classrooms/learning areas.  A complete listing of approved food items can be found under "Forms and Documents". Part of our comprehensive, proactive plan is to limit the consumption of nut products in classrooms.  This nut product elimination will go beyond healthy type snacks (peanut butter crackers) to include birthday treats and food products enjoyed at the three classroom parties. We will continue to serve peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in our dining room and a "sack lunch" could certainly include products restricted in classrooms.  There will continue to be a "nut safer" lunch table available to children. This listing will also be used for the three designated classroom parties.  In an effort to protect all children and to continue to have safety as our number one priority, only items from the listing will be accepted for distribution at school.  Although it would be impossible to guarantee a totally nut-free environment, with your support and effort we can make additional strides in making all children safe while at Cedar Hills.  Thank you for your understanding of this very important matter.
