Each year Leawood Elementary selects a theme for the year. This year's theme is "Everyone Matters". Every person deserves to feel he/she is an important part of the community. Leawood Elementary hopes to foster an environment where we will show respect, kindness, empathy and compassion to each other. We want students to believe in themselves and respect other's choices. Every person at LES should be valued for who they are because "Everyone Matters"!

LES Students in STEM competitions!
Our 4th Graders:
Some of our 4th grade students in Miss Wilton's class have entered the Battle of the Brains competition! The contest is sponsored by Science City & Burns and McDonnell to help decide the next exhibit at Science City. he LES entry was GeneTech - an exhibit to help explain genetics, heredity, and genetic technolgy in an engaging and interactive format. Visitors to the propsed exhibit could see how different DNA structures create different traits/features, how altered genes may create health issues, how genetic technology can affect our food, and how to solve a crime using DNA. WOW! We are so proud of our students!
Our 5th Graders:
Some of our 5th grade students have entered the First Lego League Comptition. First Lego League is a worldwide themed research and robotics competition. LES has 2 teams entered - the Titanium Monkeys and the Gear Geeks. There are 4 competitions from November through the finals at Union Station on January 18th. Students will find out if they are in the finals toward the end of December. There is a lot of practice, work, and effort put forth to prepare for these competitions. Great job LES students!

Registration packets are available online for downloading (look under "13-14 Registration" or "Forms and Documents"). Forms must be turned into the LES office (the forms online are not interactive electronically). You may pay by check, cash (in person) or online.
You are able to pay for 13-14 registration fees online if you have an activated ParentVue account! (ParentVue is the district's new student information system.) You will not be able to pay online without an active ParentVue account.
