    Meet Mrs. Schwabauer

I love my job and I love my students!  I believe that teaching is my calling and it gives me a real purpose in life.  This is my 25th year being a classroom teacher!  I started my career in Fort Worth, Texas teaching fourth grade, followed by 16 years in the Center School District teaching both fifth and third grades.  This is my seventh year in the Blue Valley School District.

I am married to my best friend, Doug.  He is a software sales engineer who loves sports, especially tennis.  He is an amazing husband who understands my passion for teaching and my love for children.

I am a parent of children who attend Blue Valley schools.  My girls are active students who participate in many extra-curricular activities.  I understand the hustle and bustle of home life and I believe our girls are fortunate to attend such a wonderful school district.

I like to stay active by working out and playing tennis, a sport I just started playing a year ago for which I have found a passion.  I love decorating, shopping, dogs, K-State and spending time with my grandparents.  (Yes, I still have a set of living grandparents and my grandmother turned 100 in March!)

When I was in first grade...My teacher’s name was Mrs. Gintzel.  She smiled all the time and gave me a hug when I left her classroom at the end of each day.  I have fond memories of her reading books to the class and teaching me how to tell time.  I walked to and from school almost every day with my sisters and I occasionally walked home for lunch.  That year, Jimmy Carter was elected President, Apple was created, Peyton Manning was born and Star Wars was released.

My hope is that your student loves first grade as much as I do!
