Second Graders should spend 20 minutes a night working on homework.
This includes:
reading for 20 minutes
studying spelling words
completing the weekly math assignment.
Spelling words will come home on Fridays. Spelling test will be given on the following Thursdays.
Weekly math homework comes home on Fridays and is due the following Fridays.
Monthly Mustang Reading Logs will come home at the beginning of the month starting with the September log. Students are expected to read 100 minutes a week. Please write down the books that your student reads on the back of the monthly log for tracking the yearly reading logs.
To receive his or her Mustang Reading Award at the end of the year, your student will need to have read 3 books each from the genres of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, folk/fairy tales, and biography. The total number of books required is 25, so the remaining 10 books are free choice. This program runs from the summer 2015 to May 1, 2016!
A copy of the log is printed on the back on the monthly log or can be printed from the Stilwell Library home page.
