Vincent Van Gogh Starry Night Skies

In art class, the first graders have been studying Vincent Van Gogh. They learned that Vincent Van Gogh used thick brush strokes and color to create movement and texture in his paintings. Movement is what moves the viewers eye through a work of art and can be created by repetition of color and line. After viewing the painting Starry Night, the first graders made their own Starry Night skies by using tempera paint and various types of lines. To finish their art projects, they used paper scraps to collage in their cityscapes.
