    Parents -

In both third and fourth grade music classes, students will be playing the recorder.  Learning to play a pitched instrument is part of the Blue Valley Music Curriculum and provides a means for students to continually practice music-reading skills, as well as establish proper breathing habits and fingering techniques.  These techniques are excellent preparation for those students who choose to enter band, choral, or strings programs.

The need for sanitation of the recorders is essential.  Therefore, your child needs to have his/her own recorder for health purposes and for practice availability.

Recorders can be ordered from me. Recorders will be paid for from a school music fund so there will be no charge to the student.  The recorders will be delivered to the school and students will pick them up in music class.

In order to conserve paper usage, your child will be able to access the classroom songs and recorder fingering chart on my website.  Go to https://www.bluevalleyk12.org/Domain/1273.

Scroll down to the tab that says “recorders” on the left side.  Click on the attachment.  I have posted the materials that the students will need.
