    Paper Outline
    (S)
The world of George Orwell’s 1984 and North Korea, as represented in the documentary
Under the Sun, have shocking parallels, such as the government control of foreign affairs, leader
worship, and brainwashing, that seem to create an Oceania in North Korea.
    (D)  While there are many similarities, there are also several differences between North Korea and
1984 which provides hope for change before North Korea becomes a new age Oceania.
    (I) The connection of North Korea to the world of Oceania creates concern that due to the autocratic
nature of North Korea’s government, we could see our world become Oceania.
