Chris Legleiter

Chris Legleiter grew up in Northeast Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University with degrees including his Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education and Masters in Education Administration. Prior to coming to Blue Valley, he taught and coached at Washburn Rural High School and St. Mary's High School.


Chris came to Blue Valley in 2003 and taught high school science for several years before changing roles from teaching to administration. He was an Assistant Principal and/or at both the middle school and high school levels before becoming the Principal of Aubry Bend Middle. He is proud to be the Principal of Aubry Bend Middle School and enjoys the opportunity to work with the staff and partner with the parents/guardians to provide the best school experience for every student. Chris believes a quality school is one where students and staff develop connections and classroom instruction provides academic challenges through relevant methods that help students develop the skills needed in the future. He also looks forward to helping each student find a school activity that they can become involved in and experience success.


Chris and his wife Julie have 2 daughters that keep them busy with many school-related activities. When he is not supporting the Wolverines of ABMS, he is supporting his daughters in their endeavors or spending time with his family.​

Ryan Colburn

Mr. Ryan Colburn, assistant principal, has been in education for over two decades.  Mr. Colburn grew up in Prairie Village and attended schools in the area.  After attending The University of Kansas majoring in Middle and Secondary Mathematics Education, Mr. Colburn taught in Shawnee Mission High Schools and served as the Head Cross Country and Head Track and Field Coach for 17 years.  In 2016 Mr. Colburn completed his Master's Degree from Baker University in School Leadership and moved to Blue Valley to begin his Administrative career.  After serving one year at Blue Valley Northwest, Mr. Colburn moved to Aubry Bend Middle School to serve as the assistant principal.  Mr. Colburn is married and has two children in high school.  He enjoys spending time with his family and running in his free time.


After teaching in high schools for years, Mr. Colburn enjoys working in the middle schools.  The students are so fun to talk to and have such a passion for school and learning.
