• English Language Arts Summer Reading

English Language Arts Students of all levels/grades –

For the summer of 2021, there will be not summer reading assignment for any course, but all students are encouraged to read during the summer to foster life-long reading habits. We have made this decision, as a department, in the best interest of our current and future students and their success.

Please do take the time to embrace reading this summer- read novels, nonfiction texts, news stories, poetry, etc. Also, feel free to reread an old favorite you have read previously. Many of our classes incorporate independent reading on a daily basis, so reading now and developing the stamina to read/concentrate will give you a head start for the new year. JUST READ! Here is a link to a slide deck of suggested reads from various sources. Feel free to use this to help you find a book to read.

Enjoy your summer and we look forward to working with you during the upcoming school year. We are excited to return to the building in the fall and start off the year together, on the same page. Until we meet, read and GO DOGS!

    Sincerely,

The ELA Department at Blue Valley Northwest

    Math Summer Assignments

    Greetings BVNW Math Students!

For the summer of 2021, the mathematics department at Blue Valley Northwest wants to encourage all students to keep their math skills fresh. We hope you can find time this summer to complete the appropriate review to help prepare you for your next math class. SUMMER MATH PACKETS

In addition, we will provide a great end of summer opportunity for your student(s).  The BVNW Husky Headstart math program will be offered on August 10th – 11th.  The program is offered to students taking Algebra 1, Geometry, Honors Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus or Calculus next year.  BVNW Husky Headstart is designed for those students who want to have a stronger start in their upcoming math course.  This flyer indicates the number of days, time and cost for the workshop that meets the needs of your student.

For example, if your student was in Geometry during the 2020-2021 school year, and is enrolled in Algebra 2 for the 2021-2022 school year, they should attend the Algebra 2 Husky Headstart.

Please contact Karen Stohlmann with questions/concerns regarding BVNW Husky Headstart.  khenderson@bluevalleyk12.org
