Meet Mrs. Stern

  • Welcome!

My name is Jill Stern and I teach 1st grade.  It's been a long, but fast, journey in education as I begin my 21st year of teaching! I have lived in Kansas since 1983, so I grew up in the Blue Valley School District.  I graduated from BVN, then attended Kansas State University.  There I earned my Bachelor's Degree in elementary education with a concentration in mathematics.  I began my teaching career at Harmony Middle School, and taught for seven years in the seventh grade. In 2004, Cedar Hills opened and I jumped at the opportunity to open a new school and work with younger students.  Then in May of 2006, I earned my Master's Degree in Educational Techology through MidAmerica Nazarene University.  In April of 2012, the Blue Valley Education Foundation awarded me the receipent of the Innovative Teacher of the Year. I am extremely honored to have earned this amazing award.

My husband and I have three wonderful children.  Our Bichon-Poo puppy, named Murphy, finally rounds out our family.  They definitely keep us busy!  Outside of school, if I'm not with my kids, you can find me buried in a book, working with computers, cooking and watching movies.  In the fall, we enjoy attending the BVW football games.  Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my family, but being at school with my students comes in at a close second.

My colleagues tell me I am determined and structured.  My family tells me I am creative and compassionate.  My students tell me I am demanding, but FUN!  I like to think they are all right!  I can't wait to spend the next year learning and growing with you!
