  • Dear 1st Grade Families,

Welcome to our first grade family!  I am very happy to have your child in my classroom.  I consider it a great privilege and responsibility to be your child’s teacher this year.  First grade is an exciting time in your child’s life as first graders are busy exploring their world and working towards becoming more independent learners.

Let me tell you a little about myself:  My name is Emily Evans and this is my fifth year teaching first grade at Liberty View.  I was born and raised in Overland Park and I, like your child, attended Blue Valley Schools.  I graduated from Kansas State University with my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.  My husband and I are excited to announce that we will be welcoming our first child into the world this fall!

In my classroom I work to create a healthy learning community that is safe and positive.  I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions with out fear or rejection.  I believe that all children can and will learn.  I teach using many different methods to reach all children in my classroom.  Seeing the growth of each child (big or small) is a celebration and very important to me.  We work together, and together, everyone achieves more success.  I look forward to a year full of positive learning experiences and many celebrations along the way!

    Love,

    Mrs. Evans
