Welcome to Kindergarten! I could not be more excited to be teaching kindergarten class at Oak Hill! I graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.S. in elementary education. I recently returned to KU to complete my M.S.E. in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Kansas. I was an AmeriCorps intern with the Boys and Girls Club program in Lawrence, Kansas for two years, taught pre-kindergarten, and also substitute-taught in the Blue Valley School District for several years. I am grateful for the experiences I have had working with a diverse population of students, yet kindergarten will always have a special place in my heart!
Outside of school I love spending time with my family. Our three-year-old son keeps us quite busy! Likewise, we try and keep him busy as well, doing the things that he loves most- swimming, attending gym and music classes, playing and exploring outside, and reading. He also loves his buddy, Phineas, our patient and loving golden retriever.
Last year, I had the opportunity to teach half-day kindergarten at OHE. I am incredibly excited to be embarking on another year of Kinder, but with twice as much classroom time! I have been working in the elementary school for almost 20 years- I have always had a passion for the amazing processes involved in learning and helping those around me. My main priorities for this year are not only to deliver curriculum, but to also develop in your child a life-long love of learning and school. I hope to love, support, and challenge your child, and push him or her to their full potential. It is my job and upmost responsibility this year to equipt your child with the skills needed to be successful both in and out side of the classroom.
