Superintendent Dr. Gillian Chapman Ushers in a New Blue Valley Era

Dr. Gillian Chapman officially began her tenure as superintendent of Blue Valley Schools on July 1, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for the district.

Her arrival follows a comprehensive national search and meaningful community engagement, which led to her unanimous selection by the Blue Valley Board of Education. With more than 25 years of educational leadership experience, Dr. Chapman brings a passion for student success, strong relationships and innovative thinking to her new role.

“I am honored to join a community where students are at the heart of every decision,” said Dr. Chapman. “Blue Valley’s commitment to academic excellence, personalized learning and strong community partnerships aligns closely with my values. I look forward to listening, learning and building meaningful relationships as we work together to support every student’s success in school and life.”

Dr. Chapman most recently served as superintendent of Teton County School District #1 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Prior to that, she spent 21 years in the Shawnee Mission School District, including 10 years in district-level leadership and seven in building-level leadership.

“In Dr. Chapman, we found a leader who embodies the vision, values and voice of our community,” said Gina Knapp, Board of Education member. “We are grateful for the community’s partnership throughout this process and proud to have selected a leader who reflects our district’s high expectations and shared aspirations.”

From strategic planning to student-centered innovation, Dr. Chapman brings a strong foundation — and she’s already looking ahead.

“I believe Blue Valley students, each and every one of them, can thrive and go into their futures with a strong base, ready to face whatever comes their way in careers that we can't even imagine today.”
