Emergency Drills

Blue Valley Schools continues to make school safety a top priority. Whether there is a medical emergency in the building, a weather emergency is imminent or an intruder is suspected, we want to ensure students and staff know what to do and where to go in an emergency situation.

Throughout the year, students and staff will be participating in a variety of emergency and lockdown drills.

Lockdown Procedures

Secure Entry

  1. All exterior doors checked and locked.
  2. Everyone indoors.
  3. Continue teaching.

Lock & Teach

  1. Everyone in locked rooms.
  2. Continue teaching. 

Lockdown: Lights Out

  1. Everyone in locked rooms not visible from hallways.
  2. Lights out.
  3. Quiet.

Emergency Procedures

Tornado

  1. Everyone indoors.
  2. Everyone to storm shelters.

Fire/Evacuation

  1. Everyone outside.
  2. Meet at assigned location.
  3. In a specific evacuation, specific instructions may be given. 

Shelter in Place

  1. Everyone to gymnasium.
  2. Utilities turned off as needed.
