Observer Accounts

Parents and guardians can enroll as observers to view grades, resources and activities posted in their child’s courses. Directions for generating a pair code, which is required to get started, are available in the Canvas Family Resources. Observer accounts can:

• • View student grades

  • Read announcements

  • View the calendar

  • See the course syllabus

  • Access a list of assignments with due dates

  • See online assignments, but not discussion posts

  • Set up email or text notifications for announcements, assignments, and more

Blue Valley elementary schools use the Canvas Learning Mastery Gradebook, which can only be viewed by observers in the Canvas web browser. Middle and high schools use the traditional gradebook, which works in both the web browser and the Canvas Parent app. The app is available for iOS and Android devices for convenient access.
