Securly (web filtering)
Providing safe learning environments for students is a top priority in Blue Valley, including safety in the digital space. All district devices, including those in the 1:Learner program, are protected through a cloud-based filtering system 24/7. This ensures students experience the same level of digital safety when on district devices whether they are in the classroom, on the bus, at home or elsewhere.
Securly Home
While district devices are filtered at all times, each family may have different expectations for what their child should access on district devices outside of the school day. Through Securly Home, families can supervise use of district devices by:
- Monitoring their child’s activity on district devices outside of the Blue Valley Network/IP Address
- Establishing personalized rules/limitations for device use outside of the Blue Valley Network/IP Address
- Filtering content their child is able to access outside of the Blue Valley Network/IP Address
- Receiving real time reporting on district devices web activity while off of the Blue Valley Network/IP Address. (Parents who download the app will automatically be opted-in to receive real-time reporting. Parents can go to the app and look up activity any time (during the off BV Network times)
- Pausing the internet on your child’s district device, temporarily disabling online access.
- Setting offline schedules for your child's internet usage, for instance during dinner and at bedtime.
During the school day, the district manages all filters. Devices follow Blue Valley's filtering system until the students leave the Blue Valley Network/IP Address again. Families can download the SecurlyHome Parent Portal app in the App Store or on Google Play.
Blocking Non-EDU Games
All student filter groups block access to non-EDU games.
Families Can Request Higher Restrictions
Families may request that their student be placed in a High Restrictions Group. This blocks social media (for high school) and limits YouTube to a PG library. Requests should be submitted through a BV CARE Technology Support ticket.
