Blue Valley students identify 114 different languages as their primary home language with almost 19 percent of students reporting a home language other than English. The top non-English home languages reported include Spanish, Telugu, Chinese, Urdu and Tamil.
Where Are We Located?
Unified in 1965, Blue Valley Schools encompasses 91 square miles in southeastern Johnson County in portions of south Overland Park, Leawood and Olathe. These cities have been recognized in many national quality-of-life rankings. Livability named Overland Park one of the Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2025.
Blue Valley Schools is home to more than 54,000 residential housing units. Approximately 75 percent of the units are single-family dwellings and 25 percent are duplexes/condos/multi-family housing. The average household size in Blue Valley is 2.67 residents.
Nearly half of Blue Valley residents are under the age of 40. The median age of Blue Valley's residential population is 41 years old. The median income of all Blue Valley households is $136,559. According to information derived from the Johnson County Appraiser's Office, the average value of single-family residences in the school district is approximately $500,900.
