For more than 60 years, Blue Valley Schools has been committed to cultivating lifelong learners prepared to navigate their future with purpose. Located in suburban Kansas City, in the heart of Johnson County, Kansas, the school district serves more than 22,000 students at its five high schools, nine middle schools, and 22 elementary schools. Blue Valley consistently ranks among the top school districts in the nation, providing each student with the opportunity for academic success and personal growth through personalized student learning.

The district offers many special programs including the Blue Valley Academy, a non-traditional program for high school students; 18-21 Services, a program teaching independent living skills for students with moderate to severe disabilities; and the Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS), an innovative program for high school juniors and seniors, providing real-world, hands-on learning experience.

Blue Valley spans 91 square miles, with each school serving its own attendance area. Staff members are available at every school to guide new families through registration and provide information on health and immunization requirements, transportation options and placement for students with special needs.

Blue Valley schools are open to students who reside legally within district boundaries or to nonresident students with approved transfers. For more about transfers, see the district's registration page. 

The district's boundaries are set by the state legislature. Attendance areas are reviewed by the Finance and Operations committee, a Board of Education advisory group, and may change based on committee recommendations. Use the School Locator tool to find your attendance area school.
