Kansas Licensure

Three important things to remember about Kansas licensure:

  1. All certified employees must have a current Kansas license in the content area/grade level which they are employed.
  2. KSDE will no longer print and mail paper license copies to applicants. All certified employees must print their license from the KSDE website and submit to Human Resources.
  3. Kansas licenses are a function of the Kansas State Department of Education located in Topeka, Kansas, not a function of Blue Valley Schools. It is the responsibility of the employee to obtain and maintain a Kansas license.

Kansas licensure information is available online or by telephone at 785-296-2288. Application packets should be mailed to: Teacher Licensure and Accreditation, Landon State Office Building, 900 SW Jackson, Suite 106, Topeka, KS 66612.

KPERS and KP&F Retirees

According to IRS rules, if you are a Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) retiree, you cannot arrange employment prior to your KPERS retirement date and the subsequent waiting period of 180 days if under the age 62 or 60 days if over the age 62 at retirement.

If you are a Kansas Police and Fire (KP&F) retiree, you cannot arrange employment prior to your KP&F retirement date and the subsequent 30-day waiting period. For more information, contact KPERS at 888-275-5737.

Further Your Education
