Week of September 26th...

Dear Families,

Good morning!  I hope everyone had a great weekend. We had a lovely, quiet weekend. It is amazing how relaxing our weekends are when Jim can't do much! LOL.  We enjoyed some family time at the park and lots of football yesterday.

  •  Battle of the Books:    Battle of the Books is a very fun reading competition.  Students read a variety of given books and will have to answer questions in battles about what they read.  Students will be put onto teams with students from all 3 classes. They will begin by reading and reading! There are 35 books that each team is responsible for.  This means each child will have to read AT LEAST 20-30 minutes a day. We will provide class time, but they will read at home too. Students will be journaling as they read.  The competition will be the week before Thanksgiving.  We will begin next week!!!

  • Wildwood:   If you would like to come on the Wildwood Field Trip please let me know ASAP. We would love to have you as it is a very fun, but remember you won't be with your child's group. Wildwood asks us not to because parents tend to try and help their own child and the purpose of the trip is for students to problem solve and learn how to be a leader.

  • Math:  Topic 2 tests are graded and are in Parent Vue.  We did much better as a whole on this test. The average was 87% with most students making significant growth from their pre-test!  We will be pre-testing Topic 3 today and begin instruction tomorrow.

  • Sub:   I will be gone Monday.  Since I didn't go to Colorado I have a personal day so I can go with Michael's class to the Pumpkin Patch. I am SO excited and a little nervous to be a parent in charge of a small group of 3 year olds in public!

  • Twitter:   If you have a Twitter account please follow us at @MrsDugganSPE.  I post almost daily the fun things we are up to in the classroom!

  • Grade Updates:   I know a lot of you have been on Parent Vue checking grades. That is great way to keep up with what we have been working on.  Please know that grades are updated each week by Tuesday at 10am.   If you check on Monday they won't be updated and there might be missing assignments that aren't really missing. Same thing for a Friday.  If you ever have questions about grades please let me know.
