Math: This week we will continue Place Value.
Reading: This week we will begin our first unit "Common Ground". Students will work in small groups with me and complete reading rotations working on the following skills: Determine authors purpose, determine important information, synonyms, and prefixes meaning not or opposite.
Writing: Students will work on their journal covers, brainstorm writing topics, and begin our first unit: Personal Narratives.
Social Studies: Chapter 2, Native Americans and their Land
Spelling: Spelling Test will be on Friday, August 26.

Homework packet will come home with your child on Monday and be due Friday. Students should read 20 minutes a day at least 5 days a week. Their reading bookmark log came home Friday and will be due this Friday.
Important Reminders:
*Our first counselor lesson will be Tuesday.
*We will have library check-out on Wednesday.
* Punt, Pass, and Kick forms are due this Friday, Aug. 26.
*Thursday, August 25, students will take the Reading MAP test at 10:00.
*Thursday, August 25 is Back to School Night. There will be two sessions. 6:30-7:30 or 7:15-7:45. Much of the information I will share can be viewed on my webpage under the General tab.
*Tuesday, August 30 is Early Release at 2:00. It will also be Punt, Pass, & Kick for those to sign up.
*Thursday, September 1 students will take the Math MAP test at 10:00.
