Math: This week we will conclude Topic 2, Adding and Subtracting Decimals. Monday we will review. The test will be on Wednesday. Quick Check corrections will be due by Wednesday.
Reading: We will continue our unit "Common Ground". Students will work in small groups with me and complete reading rotaions working on the following skills: Paraphrasing, Making Inferences, Plot, Descriptive Language, and Prefixes meaning Not or Opposite. Students will meet in inquiry groups to share their research and put together their presentations. Research #2 will be completed at home and will be due on Thursday, September 15.
Writing: Students will work in writing workshop. We will continue to learn about strategies to "show" not "tell" in our writing. We will work on our first writing unit, Memoirs.
Science: Changes in Matter

Homework packet will come home with your child on the first day of the week and be due Friday. Students should read 20 minutes a day at least 5 days a week. Their reading bookmark log came home Friday and will be due this Friday.
Important Reminders: *Tuesday is Early Release at 2:00. Students will meet in their Nesting Groups that afternoon. *We will have library check-out on Wednesday. * Friday is the Hawk Walk. Fifth grade will walk from 3:00-3:30. *Carnival is this Friday 4:30-7:00.
