Blue Valley high schools ranked highly in the 2021 US News and World Report's list of best high schools

Blue Valley high schools were highly ranked again both nationally and within the state of Kansas in the recent 2021 US News and World Report’s list of Best High Schools. All five Blue Valley high schools were ranked among the top 2,000 of 17,857 high schools nationally and all five earned recognition within the top 12 high schools in Kansas. 

 

“All of our high schools share a common commitment to excellence, and their inclusion on this list reflects the hard work of our students, our teachers, our support staff and our administrators in such an unprecedented year,” said Dr. Tonya Merrigan, Superintendent. “Every one of these schools is its own unique learning community, each serving as a critical bridge for all students to the next phase of their lives.”

 

Blue Valley was also the only district to have more than two of its schools ranked in the top 10 in the state, with a total of four schools being recognized at this level, an honor that shows the outstanding commitment and accomplishments of all students and staff throughout the district.

Blue Valley Schools were ranked: 

Blue Valley North: #2 in Kansas, #356 Nationally 

Blue Valley West: #3 in Kansas, #928 Nationally 

Blue Valley Northwest: #4 in Kansas, #930 Nationally 

Blue Valley High: #7 in Kansas, #1,051 Nationally

Blue Valley Southwest: #12 in Kansas, #1,993 Nationally

The rankings relied on six factors in their calculations: college readiness (which measures performances on AP and IB exams), reading and math proficiency, reading and math performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rates.
