Greetings, Huskies!
Wow, what a tremendous week we had celebrating the class of 2024! We are so proud of our seniors, and are looking forward to graduation on Saturday morning. The end of the second semester is nearly here. Our students have had a great semester of learning, and we continue to see the positive impacts of our learning management system, Canvas, in our classrooms. As we gear up for the end of the semester, please take note of the important information below regarding grades and courses in Canvas.
End of Semester Information At the end of the day on Friday, May 24th, courses in Canvas will conclude and will no longer be visible on the Canvas Parent app. A concluded course is only visible through the Canvas Website. To view Past Enrollment courses open Canvas in a web browser, log in, and click on the Courses tab. Click View All Courses and scroll down to find the past enrollments (directions linked here). Second-semester Report Cards will be published in ParentVUE on June 6th.
Need some help? Blue Valley has a variety of resources available for parent support on the district’s Canvas web page, www.bluevalleyk12.org/canvas.
Your partner in education,
David

2nd Semester Finals Schedule - Below and also linked here (it includes seniors and students in grades 9-11).
Students are not allowed to take their finals early due to concerns regarding test security. If a student is missing a final or finals, they should go to Student Services and request an alternate date finals exam form. Students will need to have their teachers sign the form prior to finals.
We will be offering two final exam make-up dates over the summer: June 3rd or August 5th. Students should indicate their make-up date on the form. The form must be turned in prior to the student missing their final(s). |

As we begin the fourth quarter, the district has determined the last day of school for students for 2023-24. Assuming no unforeseen circumstances cause us to cancel school, staff and families can plan on May 24 as the last day for students in grades K-11. Students in the early childhood programs will have their last day on May 23.
High school finals will occur May 22–24, with building principals communicating the specific schedules to their school families and students at a later date. For more information or to subscribe to the district calendar, visit www.bluevalleyk12.org/calendar. |

Seniors- New information for AFTER graduation Transferring College Credits: Did you take a class for college credit through Baker U or JCCC? You will need to have your official transcript sent from those schools to get those credits transferred to your new university. To request Baker transcript requests click here. for JCCC transcript requests click here. (if you are currently taking a college now course through JCCC wait until June 1 to make your request)
College Orientation Tips: If you took classes for college credit, your orientation appointment may arrive before your college transcript does. Just to be safe, log into your JCCC account & print your course history or print a copy of your completed credits through Baker U and take that unofficial print out with you. It will not be enough for the college to issue your credits, but it will help your academic advisor know what courses you will not need to take when you get there.
Final Transcripts: You should have already confirmed where you want your final transcript sent in the Senior Forms Packet. If you are unsure you have completed this step, please see Mrs. Fromm, in Student Services. Colleges will not receive your transcript until mid-June. They are aware of this timeline with high schools! Calling the BVNW office after graduation, will not change the timeframe in which they are sent. |
Mental Health & Wellness Checklist for HS Graduates & Their Families Do you have a soon-to-be or recent high school graduate in your family? Congratulations! This milestone is momentous and exciting - and it can be overwhelming for both parents and their young adult children. The checklist linked is designed to help you navigate mental health and wellness needs during this transition. Created by three dedicated BV Well parent volunteers who have all been through graduation and 'launch' with their children, we hope you and your graduate will find the topics and steps covered in the checklist worthwhile. |
