    Presidential Community Service Program at CPE

  • The President's Council on Service and Civic Participation (the Council) was established in 2003 to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers are making in our communities and encourage more people to serve. The Council created the President's Volunteer Service Award program as a way to thank and honor Americans who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service.

    Recognizing and honoring volunteers sets a standard for service, encourages a sustained commitment to civic participation, and inspires others to make service a central part of their lives. The President's Volunteer Service Award recognizes individuals, families, and groups that have achieved a certain standard - measured by the number of hours of service over a 12-month period or cumulative hours earned over the course of a lifetime.

  • Award Criteria

    Any individual, family, or group can receive Presidential recognition for volunteer hours earned over a 12-month period or over the course of a lifetime at home or abroad. The following are the eligibility requirements for each age group:

    Bronze Level

    Kids ages 5-10: 26 to 49 hours

    Kids ages 11-15: 50-74 hours
    Young Adults: 100 to 174 hours
    Adults: 100 to 249 hours
    Family & Groups: 200 to 499 hours

    Silver Level.

    Kids ages 5-10: 50-74 hours

    Kids ages 11-15: 75 to 99 hours
    Young Adults: 175 to 249 hours
    Adults: 250 to 499 hours
    Family & Groups: 500 to 999 hours

    Gold Level.

    Kids ages 5-10: 75+ hours

    Kids ages 11-15: 100 hours or more
    Young Adults: 250 hours or more
    Adults: 500 hours or more
    Family & Groups: 1000 hours or more

  • There will be several "all school" community service opportunities for our students to collect service hours.  Parents will be notified with an email about these activities and students will see flyers around the school and be told about them on the morning broadcast.

  • We encourage CPE students to keep track of their community service hours.  The service  year goes from April 1 of this year until April 1 of next year.  Community Service Hour tracking forms can be picked up at the school.
  • HELPING HANDS PROJECT During the months of Nov.-Dec. our school participates in a program called Helping Hands. You will find paper mittens hung up on clotheslines in each pod with information on them about items you and your family can purchase for families in need. Take the paper mitten down, purchase the item on the mitten, attach the paper mitten to the item and return it to the box under the board where you took the paper mitten. No wrapping is required. We will deliver the collected items to the families in need. This is a great way for our students to understand the virtue of compassion and to get in the habit of doing for others.
