Mr. Bryan Salsgiver

My name is Bryan Salsgiver and I am entering my third year as the Assistant Principal at Blue Valley Middle School. My educational path to this moment began with my first teaching job at Washington High School in the Kansas City, Kansas school district. I was a high school business and computer teacher for five years, as well as the Head Football Coach for three of those years. I then spent two years at Turner Middle School teaching Career Explorations before receiving the opportunity to come to Blue Valley as an Instructional Design Coach. I served two years as an Instructional Design Coach at Overland Trail Middle School serving the students and teachers in that building while also supporting 6-12 Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes in our district before receiving the opportunity to step into the Assistant Principal role at Blue Valley Middle School.

I am an avid sports lover and have coached high school football for fifteen years. I have also coached several seasons of basketball and baseball during that time, but football is my number one love.

I enjoy spending time in the outdoors, camping, and hiking with my family. I have an amazing family; my wife, Natalie, and I have been married 13 years and we have two beautiful kids. My daughter, Harper, is eight years old and will be beginning 3rd grade this year. My son Colton is four years old.

Teachers and coaches were some of the most important people in my life growing up and I love the work that we do for kids every day. I love being at Blue Valley Middle School with an amazing group of students, staff, and families.

Mrs. Brooke Ash

My name is Brooke Ash, and I am honored and very excited to be joining the Blue Valley Middle School family for the 2023-24 school year! I grew up in the Blue Valley School District and graduated from Blue Valley Northwest, before heading North to the University of Nebraska. At Nebraska, I began my educational career, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and later earning a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Pitt State University.

I began my teaching career in Shawnee Mission, before transitioning to teach at Overland Trail Middle School. I taught Science, English and Executive Functioning skills to my students. I also coached softball and volleyball at Blue Valley West High School for six years. Teachers and coaches made a huge impact on my life growing up, and I am humbled to be able to make similar connections as an adult. I love seeing many of my former students and athletes in our community and enjoy catching up with them.

Last year I was the Assistant Principal at Lakewood Middle school and had the opportunity to learn so much from Dr. Lisa Stolper.  Prior to this position, I spent two years as an Instructional Design Coach and one of the District’s 6-12 Science Coordinator’s. I primarily worked at Leawood Middle School and Prairie Star Middle School, where I help mentor new teachers, collaborate closely and plan with teachers, design and lead professional learning, in addition to working on our district’s 6-12 science curriculum and resource adoption.

In our free time, my family and I enjoy traveling to visit friends and family in Texas and Nebraska and being outside. I have a wonderful family, my husband, Nick, and I are about to celebrate 9 years of marriage. We have two children together, my daughter, Peyton (5), and my son, Barrett (2). They are my absolute joy.

I look forward to being a part of the Blue Valley Middle community and getting to know all of the students and families over the years to come.
