DEBATE CLUB
BVMS Debate Club is kicking off this year! All students 6-8 are eligible to participate. If you are interested in high school debate, a job as a lawyer or even just enjoy arguing, this club is for you!
We will be meeting every Thursday starting October 13th through November 17th. To finish off our season, we even get to compete at the high school versus Prairie Star, the other Blue Valley High feeder school. Please reach out to Mrs. Beye with any questions!

DIVERSITY COUNCIL
Have you looked around and noticed how different your peers are from you? Well, you’re right! Our differences are what makes our world amazing. The BVMS Diversity Council is geared towards creating awareness, broadening peoples’ minds, and getting people talking about the world they live in. We work to help create a safe, inclusive environment here in our school and in our school district. The Diversity Council’s first meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 7th, after school from 3:05-4:00pm. Meetings will be held every other Wednesday in the Art room. If you are interested in joining the BVMS Diversity Council, please see Mrs. Liposchak or just show up to our first meeting on the 7th.

FISHING CLUB
Introduction: The BVM fishing club is for students at Blue Valley Middle to have the opportunity to connect, relax and enjoy the great outdoors.

Informational meeting during each lunch on Thursday, September 8th.

We will hold an informational parent zoom meeting on Tuesday, September 13th at 4PM.

The first fishing opportunity will be Thursday, September 15th.

We will not have students bring any fishing equipment onto school property. In order to accomplish this our BVMS fishing clubs start time will be 3:45PM. This will allow students time after school to gather equipment and meet at the fishing location.

The BVMS fishing club will not always meet and fish. We will look for opportunities to share stories, pictures, and experiences. We will some guest speakers from the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Game and Fish. We will create club tournaments and competitoins to encourage students to get out with a friend, family or by themself to fish. When not fishing meetings will take place after school from 3:00-4:00PM. Any parents with expertise to lend? We would love to include you as a guest speaker.

Our primary fishing location will be the Wilderness Lake Park which is in walking distance from Blue Valley Middle. With a later start time will can utlizie other fishing ponds in the area like Kingston Park.

Mr. Salsgiver and parent volunteers will be supervising but students are expected to be responsible.

Fishing time will be from 3:45-5:00PM

Students will be responsible for having a ride home by 5:00PM or able to walk home on their own.
Expectations:

We are here to enjoy the outdoors, relax and fish. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated or allowed. We are representing our school and want to be positive role models in a public park.

Catch and Release- all fish caught will be released back into the lake.

Students have a ride home.

Students will have a signed permission slip on file from a parent or guardian.

JAZZ BAND
The musical genre of jazz, rock, and Latin music are explored in jazz band. Jazz band meets every Thursday and Friday. Sectionals are scheduled every Tuesday depending on the instrument group.
