Dr. Gretchen Anderson

A focus on community, relationships and educational excellence defines Dr. Gretchen Anderson and these are priorities of Blue Valley's newest elementary school, Wolf Springs Elementary. Anderson has served as principal at Wolf Springs Elementary since the school's inaugural opening in 2017.

"I am incredibly honored for the privilege to serve as principal of Wolf Springs Elementary," Anderson said. "Together with the community we will open a distinctive and innovative learning center with a centralized focus on promoting 21st century competencies to equip students to become productive and contributing global citizens."

Anderson is currently in her fourteenth year serving as an elementary principal. Prior to her current role, she served as principal at Oak Hill Elementary in Blue Valley, principal and assistant principal at Fox Hill Elementary in North Kansas City and as a first and third grade teacher.

Anderson received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her masters from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. In 2010, she earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, with an emphasis on Curriculum and Teaching from the University of Kansas.

The vision of Wolf Springs Elementary is to inspire passionate difference makers through innovation and authentic learning in a global community. To Anderson, serving the whole child, in a student-centered learning environment that engages both local and global communities are the essential elements to fulfill the school's vision. Because of the school's commitment to 21st century teaching and learning, Wolf Springs was named a Battelle for Kids/P21 Exemplar School in 2019.
