ABOUT THE COUNSELORS

  • Blue Valley School Counselors are licensed educators who improve student success for ALL students by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program. School Counselors are vital members of the education team and maximize student success. They help all students in the areas of academic achievement, social/emotional development, and career readiness, ensuring today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow.


    How do you see your school counselor? Students or parents can stop by, email, call counselors, or fill out a form in the student services offices. Students can refer themselves, parents can refer their student, friends that know a student needs something can refer a student, and teachers or other staff members can refer students.


    Examples of reasons Students would come to the counselor include, but are not limited to the following:

     

    • Having trouble with school/grades

    • Conflict with friends

    • Just need someone to listen

    • Talk about your future/career planning

    • Problems at home or getting along with family

    • Feeling scared or worried about a situation

    • Share and celebrate positive things

    • Feeling overwhelmed

    • Friendship issues

    • Grief, loss and divorce

    • Bullying and harassment

    • Social/Emotional Issues (depression, anxiety, etc.)

    • Foster self-awareness, acceptance, and diversity
