Segmenting Words

Learning to segment words is an important skill to use when decoding unfamiliar words.  Attached is a list of words that you could use to practice with your child. To practice this skill you would say the word and your child will segment or separate the sounds in the word.  Example:  dog  = "d" "o" "g"

CVC Words

Attached are worksheets that allow your child to record the letter sounds they hear in a word.  After they write the correct letter, then instruct your child to say the word, segment the sounds and blend the sounds back into a word.
