     SchoolCenter PictureAttendance

Our scheduled day is from 8:35-3:40. Students may begin coming to the classroom at 8:25, which will allow them time to put away coats/backpacks and be ready to begin class on time. The school day begins in a more positive manner when children are on time and ready to learn!  Please notify the office if your child will not be at school. The Harmony Attendance line is 239.6205. If you have a planned vacation, please inform Dr. Austin in writing prior to your vacation.

     SchoolCenter PictureDismissal

If your child will be leaving school early, please send an email or note to the teacher. Students leaving prior to the 3:40 dismissal will need to be signed out in the office. The office will notify the classroom and we will send your child to the office.

     SchoolCenter PictureDismissal Transportation

If your child will be going home a different way please inform me of any changes. Also, please send an email to Jane and Kate in the office. This will ensure that your message will be received by someone in the office, just in case I am absent.

If your child is going home with a friend I will need a note. Students who take the bus home with a friend will need a note for the teacher AND bus driver. The bus driver will not allow guests on the bus without a note.

This is done to keep our students safe!

     SchoolCenter PictureLunch

Our lunch time is 11:30-12:00. You are welcome to join your child for lunch. Please check in at the office and wait for your child in the cafeteria.

For specific information regarding our cafeteria please visit the food and nutrition website.

    SchoolCenter PictureRecess

We go outside for recess unless extreme weather conditions prevent it. Please have your child dressed appropriately for the weather. All children will go outside unless a health condition prevents it, in which a note from home must be sent on each day the child needs to miss recess. We will have a 10 minute walk with our lunch and a 20 minute recess later in the afternoon.

    SchoolCenter PictureBehavior

Students at Harmony are held to the highest standards of behavior here at school.  Throughout the year we will discuss and apply the seven virtues that Blue Valley Schools promote: respect, responsibility, self-discipline, honesty, courage, compassion, giving, and perseverance.

Our expectations are that students will make every effort to do their best work, cooperate, and be kind/ considerate. Sometimes students have difficulty making the best choices and need additional support. We will inform you of your child’s behavior needs if the occasion arises.  Expectations vary with circumstances. While some behaviors may work at home, they can be difficult to manage in the classroom. We will do our best to work with you to help your child make good behavior choices.

IInteraction with the parent is an essential component in this process. It is my hope that by working together we will be able to foster the classroom environment needed to have a successful school year.

For positive reinforcement, your child has the ability to earn stars for going above and beyond the expected behavior.  At the end of each week your child will have the opportunity to earn a prize.

    SchoolCenter PictureBirthdays

Birthdays are very special for children, but please do not plan a "party" at school for your child's birthday. You may send prepackaged birthday treat for the class to enjoy. Please make sure it is from the preapproved list.  If you plan to send in treats please send me an email a few days in advance so I can plan accordingly. Please send in the treats with your child that day. The time that we will do treats will be at 3:10.  We will celebrate summer birthdays in the month of May or on a 1/2 birthday. For weekend birthdays, let me know which day works the best for you and your child. Also, please do not send party invitations to school. Hurt feelings occur when every child is not invited.
