Diana Tate

Mrs. Diana Tate, principal, has been an educator and a student in Blue Valley her whole life! Having grown up in the area, Mrs. Tate attended Stilwell Elementary, Blue Valley Middle School and Blue Valley High School. After attending Kansas State University and majoring in Secondary English Education, she began her teaching career at Blue Valley High School in the English department. She taught there for 12 years before earning her Master's Degree at UMKC in K-12 Building Administration. She has been an assistant principal at Oxford Middle School and principal at Pleasant Ridge Middle School before opening Aubry Bend in the fall of 2011. Mrs. Tate is married and has three grown children who all attended Blue Valley Schools K-12. She enjoys cooking, reading, gardening and traveling in her free time.


She loves interacting with middle school students because they are so full of energy. She often talks about how much students grow, change and mature during the three years they spend in middle school and is always emotional when they move on to high school.​

Ryan Colburn

Mr. Ryan Colburn, assistant principal, has been in education for over two decades.  Mr. Colburn grew up in Prairie Village and attended schools in the area.  After attending The University of Kansas majoring in Middle and Secondary Mathematics Education, Mr. Colburn taught in Shawnee Mission High Schools and served as the Head Cross Country and Head Track and Field Coach for 17 years.  In 2016 Mr. Colburn completed his Master's Degree from Baker University in School Leadership and moved to Blue Valley to begin his Administrative career.  After serving one year at Blue Valley Northwest, Mr. Colburn moved to Aubry Bend Middle School to serve as the assistant principal.  Mr. Colburn is married and has two children, one in high school and one in middle school.  He enjoys spending time with his family and running in his free time.


After teaching in high schools for years, Mr. Colburn enjoys working in the middle schools.  The students are so fun to talk to and have such a passion for school and learning.

Jon Holsapple

Mr. Jon Holsapple, administrative intern, has been with the Blue Valley School District for the past five years. A life-long local to the area, Jon grew up in the Blue Valley School District from Kindergarten through high school, graduating from Blue Valley West. After graduating, Jon began his educational career at Emporia State University where he majored in Secondary Education of English Language Arts before later attaining a master's degree from Baker University and an administrative license from Pittsburgh State University. Jon’s wife is also a teacher in the Blue Valley School District and together they have two sons who are soon to be Blue Valley students themselves in just a couple of years.

 

Jon’s background in Blue Valley includes teaching at the middle school level, working as an Instructional Design Coach at Aubry Bend Middle School this past school year, and serving as one of the district’s 6-12 Curriculum Coordinators for the English Language Arts department. As an educator, Jon’s passion for teaching is coupled with his passion for designing engaging learning experiences and working with middle school students. As an educator and principal, Jon aspires to provide a meaningful and engaging learning experience that is tailored specifically to students’ interests and real-world applications.
