General Benefits Information
Blue Valley Unified School District #229 is pleased to provide
its employees with a broad spectrum of employee benefits.
As an employee of the Blue Valley Schools, you may choose
to participate in benefits programs designed to help meet
your personal and professional goals. Most employees are
eligible to enroll in the school district's insurance plans
if they are regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours
per week. Blue Valley pays for the single base plan health
insurance premium for eligible employees. Every eligible
employee must participate in the health insurance plan. Upon
your date of hire, coverage typically becomes effective the
first of the month following 30 days from the date you complete
and return your enrollment forms to the Benefits Department.
Except for the Open Enrollment Period in August
of each year, life changing events are the only other times
during
the Plan Year that you can apply to make changes to insurance
benefit coverages. These events include: marriage, divorce,
birth, adoption, death, or a change in employment status
(part-time to full-time, full-time to part-time, or termination
of employment) for either you or your spouse. These events
open a 30 day window to make an application for changes in
coverage. When enrolling or applying for coverage changes,
all necessary forms are obtained and processed through the
Benefits Department located at the District Office. If you
have questions regarding your benefits, please contact Tammy Madouras at 239-4674.
The Blue Valley School District #229 expects to continue
the benefit plans described in this summary, but reserve
the right to modify, amend, suspend, or terminate any non-contractual
plan or benefits in whole or in part at any time for any
reason.
Benefits documentation will be provided on the Blue Valley Intranet in the future, however, temporarily the information can be found on the employee login section (bottom of the page).
