Fall Fundraiser - Wolf Walk & Health Talk: Wolf Walk & Health Talk is our fall PSE PTO fundraiser.  This event is a walk-a-thon, as well as an event to encourage PSE students and families to lead healthy lifestyles.  Money made from the Wolf Walk will be used to fund the PSE Grant program which provides grants to enrich classroom activities and provide additional learning and social opportunities for PSE students.  Wolf Walk & Health Talk will start Wednesday, September 1st with a kick-off nutrition assembly featuring KC Wolf from the Kansas City Chiefs.  Wolf Walk packets and pledge sheets will come home with students following the kick-off assembly. Thanks in advance for your support!

This year, we are fortunate to have a trained therapy dog at PSE named Freedom.  In short, Freedom will work in collaboration with our Reading Specialist to assist students with learning and motivation on a part-time basis.  We have seen some positive effects already with Freedom and the interaction with the students.  It is important to note that Freedom is the only dog allowed in our school building.  We are continuing to work with our families who have students with pet allergies to ensure a safe environment.  Our regulations and guidelines only allow service or therapy dogs in our school.

All Prairie Star students will be taking the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) test in September. This computerized assessment provides data about student progress and needs to our teachers. 

We have been working as a staff to implement Social Thinking strategies with the students at PSE.  This link will take you to more information about Social Thinking: http://www.socialthinking.com/   In a nutshell, these strategies and lessons help students reflect on their own behaviors and the message they are sending to others.  We are trying to teach the students to be aware of the consequences (positive and negative) that their actions provide.  It's a positive and fun set of lessons that each teacher implements along with the counselor, as needed.

Does your child need some PSE spirit clothing? Attached below is a spirit wear order form to help you place your order by September 8th. Students can wear their spirit wear items any day...but we encourage everyone to wear it on Early Release days, if possible.

The PSE staff would like your help!  We have students throughout the building who have severe peanut allergies.  In order to make our environment safer for these students, we would like to share a recommended list for snacks and/or treats that come to school.  This recommended list should be a guide for families while purchasing items for classroom parties and events.  The list is very long since there are many options available!

Here are a few tips to make the car line run more smoothly and safely.

On Early Release Tuesdays, school is dismissed at 2:00 PM.
