JAGUAR ATHLETICS….GET INVOLVED!
Spring sports are in full swing, as much as the weather will allow! Thank you to everyone for your patience as practice times and locations has been somewhat last minute this week. Next week is a short week as we head into spring break and hopefully by the time we are back on March 24th the weather will be more cooperative! Although, the weather is a constant source of chaos in our schedules, so please continue to be patient and flexible. The building is open in the evenings after practices are over, so rather than you have to wait here for practices to get over, it might be more convenient for you to have your son/daughter call you when they are done. I think it is easier for them to wait on you than for you to wait on them!
Academics and Rest! Balancing sports and academics can sometimes be a challenge for high school students. Studies show that kids who are involved in activities are better students too, but sometimes they can get overwhelmed with the balance of both. Try to keep a pulse on this and encourage your child to use his/her time wisely in the evenings and on the weekends. Sometimes, they need rest more than anything else and laying low on the weekend can be the best thing once in a while.
The most accurate update for schedule changes is the coaches prefer method of communication, which they will share with you at their preseason parent meeting. For game/meet schedule changes, check Schedule Star at www.schedulestar.com This is our scheduling website and as schedules change we will update this site. You can sign up for alert messages for specific sports or teams.
Spring sport parent meetings are so important! Whether this is your first time in the program or not, there is always new information, ways to get involved, insight from the coaches and other parents, all good ways to support your child and West activities.
If you have any questions, concerns or teenage confusion, please don't hesitate to call the athletic office, 913.239.3771. Have a safe spring break and our hope is for sunny days and warm weather from here on out!
