Help Our Kids Make Responsible Choices
Many things (good and bad) that happen in high school athletics are a result of the trickle down from professional sports and college athletics. There are cheers at those levels that we cannot allow our student body to cheer at our games. There are tailgating activities at those levels that should not be happening in high school parking lots. I ask everyone to remember that high school athletics is education-based competition, with an emphasis on sportsmanship and participation. I want to win as much as the next person and I love it when our teams win, but….not at the expense of doing what is right! As parents, I ask that you model our expectations of your children. In the parking lot, in the stands, after the game, these are all times when adult actions and behaviors are under the impressionable eyes of teenagers.
Team Schedules - The best way to stay up-to-date with game changes, schedules and times is to go to our online scheduling website, Schedule Star. Log on to www.schedulestar.com. Enter Blue Valley West and check the schedules. You can also sign up for alerts for specific sports/teams. This is the best way to get notified of changes as we make them in our office. You can always call the athletics office at 913.239.3771 for information. Thank you, in advance, for your patience with changes that are difficult to control or predict.
Attention All Softball Players
Anyone interested in trying out for the BVW softball team this spring please join Coach Warnes Wednesday, September 3rd at 7:15am in room 354. We will be discussing the Homecoming Carnival, Volunteer Opportunities, and Off Season Conditioning. If you cannot attend the meeting please see Coach Warnes before or after school for more information. GO JAGS!
Mrs. Warnes, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Athletic Eligibility - all students involved in athletics are expected to maintain passing grades in all of their classes. Any students who fall into the D/F range at any time, could jeopardize their playing time and have to spend practice time working on school work. "Academics First," is our expectation for all our students! Please don't hesitate to contact counselors or teachers if you have concerns. Checking ParentVue on a regular basis is a good way to avoid surprises late in the quarter or semester.
