Dr. Gretchen Anderson

Dr. Gretchen Anderson opened Blue Valley’s newest elementary school, Aspen Grove, in 2023. Her career in education spans over 26 years, including 19 years in school administration.  Anderson joined the Blue Valley School District in 2010.  She has been principal at Oak Hill Elementary and opened Wolf Springs Elementary in 2017.  In addition, she serves as an adjunct professor at Baker University.  

 

Prior to her entry into Blue Valley, Dr. Anderson served as the principal and assistant principal at Fox Hill Elementary School in the North Kansas City School District and worked as an elementary school teacher.  She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her master’s degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. In 2010, she earned a Ph.D. from the University of Kansas. 

 

Anderson’s fundamental purpose is to serve children, staff and families with a loving heart and a positive mindset. Aspen Grove’s culture is defined by three foundational pillars - Connectedness, Community and Educational Excellence.  Moreover, the vision is to cultivate a safe, inclusive and joyful learning community in which every child feels empowered to achieve full potential as a life-long learner.
