FEES

  • REQUIRED FEES

Blue Valley Schools charges a variety of required fees. These include, but are not limited to:

    Learning resource fee

    (elementary, middle and high school)
Collected at a rate of $100 per student, this fee is primarily used to purchase materials and supplies that support educational initiatives in the classroom.

    Technology supply fee

    (elementary, middle and high school)
Collected at a rate of $15 per student, this fee is used for technology materials consumed during the school year.

    Activity programming fees

    (middle and high school)
The activity programming fee is collected at a rate of $20, sixth grade; $50, seventh grade; $80, eighth grade; and $120 ninth-12th grades. Please note there will be a $250 maximum payable amount for families with multiple Blue Valley students. This fee helps support all sports, activities, clubs and other supplemental contract items that require extra-duty supervision from qualified district staff. It only covers a portion of the costs for a student team activity and does not replace fees currently being charged for programs such as drill team, cheerleading, certain clubs or sports.

This fee will be refunded, upon request, to any student who did not participate in any KSHAA or non-KSHAA activity, school club or any other non-required activity offered at the school.

    Exploratory/elective fees

    (middle and high school)
Certain exploratory/elective courses include additional fees. Course fees for middle and high school exploratory/elective courses are available with online student registration packets. Fee amounts will be finalized and assigned when official schedules are available in August.

Middle School students who qualify for free or reduced meals through the Food and Nutrition Services program are entitled to waiver of exploratory/elective class fees. All High School/CAPS student’s exploratory/elective fees cannot be waived regardless of the student’s free and reduced status. For more information, contact your child's school administrator or bookkeeper.

    Fee-based programs

Blue Valley offers a fee-based early childhood peer model program. Contact Julie Bolton at (913) 239-4331 for more information.

NOTE: While Blue Valley Schools receives the majority of its funding from the state of Kansas, the law allows school districts to charge back for certain expenses, including those listed above. District fees will be waived for students who qualify for free and reduced lunches, except for high school level course fees. Payment plans are also available for families who do not qualify for free and reduced lunches. Please contact your school's bookkeeper for more information.
