By the time your child is in 3rd grade, they know the routines of school.  The expectation to be responsible for their own learning can be a giant leap for some.  The teachers have so much information to give and students need to keep up.  Start off with all the school supplies that the teacher has requested as they will be the key to helping your child get and stay organized.

The counselor lessons for 3rd grade include understanding and applying the Blue Valley Virtues of Respect, Responsibility, Compassion, Kindness, Self Discipline, Honesty, Courage, and Perseverance.  Other lessons will cover the topics of self esteem, bullying, friendship, feelings, and stress relief as well as organization and study skills. Please ask your child what they talked about during Counselor time which is 30 minutes, every other week.
