APPLICATION
Blue Valley Recreation is now accepting applications online for the vacant commission position in the south area. This vacancy shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired term only, beginning January 8, 2024, and expiring July 31, 2024. The deadline for applications is December 1.
Applicants must reside within the southern boundaries of the district, which is the green portion of the map. Please note that high school assignments are not a reliable indicator of the district area as Blue Valley West High School's attendance area falls in all three district areas.
Qualified applicants must be available to interview on the morning of December 7. The appointment will take place on January 8 at the Blue Valley Board of Education meeting. The appointee need not be present.

ABOUT BLUE VALLEY RECREATION COMMISSION
The strong partnership between the Blue Valley Recreation Commission (BVRC) and Blue Valley Schools dates back to 1986. Members of the Blue Valley community expressed interest in more recreation opportunities in the area. As a result, the BVRC was formed under the umbrella of the school district. Today the partnership remains strong and is led by a seven-person policy-making board appointed by the Blue Valley Board of Education. An example of this partnership exists in the indoor rec facility at Hilltop Campus.
COMMISSIONERS
Blue Valley Recreation Commissioner applications are accepted during times of vacancy and prior to terms expiring, typically in the spring of each year. Patrons of Blue Valley Schools who have an interest in recreation and community service are invited to consider a position on the BVRC. Seven commissioners, all members of the community, are appointed by the Blue Valley Board of Education to serve staggered four-year terms. Two commissioners are appointed from each of the three board member districts and one is an at-large appointment open to a person residing anywhere within the district boundaries.
