UPDATE ON SCHOOL-SPONSORED ATHLETICS/ACTIVITIES
Blue Valley Schools remains committed to offering students the opportunity to participate in winter activities and athletics as long as it is safe to do so. To protect the health and safety of students and staff while participating in co-curricular and extracurricular activities, the district will be following the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) Board of Directors approved recommendations for winter activities/athletics.

The board also took action to extend the moratorium on practice and competition through Jan. 3. Practices may resume on Jan. 4 and competitions may resume on Jan. 8.Other items resulting from the KSHSAA Board of Directors Meeting:

PARTICIPATION FEE
The Activity Participation Fee (APF) is a fee that will be charged at the time of registration to all students in grades 6-12 and will go toward the support of activities in middle and high schools. The APF supports the existence of these programs and allows students the continued opportunity to receive the valuable experiences that these programs offer. The APF includes all sports, activities, clubs and other supplemental contract items that support student activities (see the list on this page).
Fees per student will be charged as follows: $25 for 6th-grade students, $55 for 7th-grade students, $90 for 8th-grade students and $135 for 9th through 12th-grade students. This fee does not replace other fees that some programs currently charge. (Drill team, cheerleading, certain clubs
and some sports are examples.) The APF will be waived for students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Additionally, APF’s will be capped at $250 per family. Payment plans are available for families who are not on free or reduced-price lunch but cannot pay the fee at the time of registration if payments are not made online. This fee will be waived, upon request, to any student who did not participate in any KSHSAA or
non -KSHSAA activity, school club or any other non-required activity which was offered at the school. Access the Activity Participation Fee Refund Request Form. All refund requests must be approved by the building principal and submitted prior to May 31 of the academic year for which the request is being made. -
INTRAMURALS
All Middle Schools offer an intramural program for 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Activities vary among the schools based on student interest and the availability of sponsors to teach/organize various activities.
