EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
Blue Valley Schools provide employees with a broad spectrum of benefits including but not limited to: Health & Welfare, 403(b) & 457(b) voluntary retirement plans, 529 College Savings plan and Kansas Public Employee System (KPERS) membership.

KPERS AND KP&F RETIREES
According to IRS rules, if you are a Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) retiree, you cannot arrange employment prior to your KPERS retirement date and the subsequent waiting period of 180 days if < age 62 or 60 days if age 62+ at retirement.
If you are a Kansas Police and Fire (KP&F) retiree, you cannot arrange employment prior to your KP&F retirement date and the subsequent 30-day waiting period. For more information, contact KPERS at (888) 275-5737. -
KANSAS LICENSURE
Three important things to remember about Kansas licensure:
- All certified employees must have a current Kansas license in the content area/grade level which they are employed.
- KSDE will no longer print and mail paper license copies to applicants. All certified employees must print his/her license from the KSDE website and submit to Human Resources.
- Kansas licenses are a function of the Kansas State Department of Education located in Topeka, Kansas, not a function of Blue Valley Schools. It is the responsibility of the employee to obtain and maintain a Kansas license.

DISTRICT REQUIREMENTS
The Blue Valley School District conducts employment background investigations as part of the process of considering candidacy for employment.
Effective 7/1/12, smoking or use of tobacco products is prohibited in all district-owned buildings, on all groundsand at athletic facilities, in district-leased facilities, on school buses and in all vehicles owned or leased by the Blue Valley School District. SUBSTITUTE POSITIONS
Applications for Substitute Teacher, Substitute Paraprofessional or Substitute Nurse for the 2019-20 school year are currently being accepted.

FURTHER YOUR EDUCATION
Scholarships have been added to state-funded student assistance programs administered by the Kansas Board of Regents. These programs -- the Kansas Special Education Teacher Service Scholarship and the Kansas Teacher Education Scholarship -- are particularly advantageous to current teachers obtaining additional hours. NEW TEACHER SUPPORT PROGRAM
This program is designed to induct new teachers into the district and to provide an option to work toward a master's degree. Every new teacher attends a series of seminars and classes on curriculum, instruction, classroom management
and Blue Valley culture called the Blue Valley Onboarding.
Master teachers are assigned to observe, conference and support new teachers. Peer assistants are trained to help beginning teachers identify strengths and areas for growth. Instructional research coaches are experienced teachers who provide support to new teachers throughout their first year. -
