    National Board certification measures a teacher's practice against high and rigorous standards. The process is an extensive series of performance-based assessments that includes teaching entries, student work samples, videos and thorough analyses of the candidates' classroom teaching and student learning.

  • What are the benefits of National Board certification?

    In addition to the process being a rich professional learning experience, Blue Valley compensates NBPTS certified teachers $2,500 annually who continue to work full time in the area of certification.  This additional compensation continues for 10 years, the life of the certification.  Also, those who have NBPTS certification may apply for a 10-year Accomplished License from KSDE.

    Currently, the cost is approximately $2000.  There are stipends available for a limited number of eligible candidates per school year through a selective application process.
