Special hearing scheduled on Blue Valley’s mask mandate
With 40 days remaining in the school year, masks continue to be an important part of the district’s COVID-19 mitigation efforts to keep all students in school full time. This message is to make you aware of a hearing scheduled for Tuesday, April 6 at the request of a Blue Valley parent challenging the district’s mask requirement. The hearing is mandated under new legislation found in Senate Bill 40 (SB 40).

Forty-nine Blue Valley students named National Merit finalists
Forty-nine Blue Valley seniors have been named National Merit finalists. These seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered in the spring.

Blue Valley graduates have something to celebrate. The district’s 2020 graduates scored a composite ACT score of 24.3, a score that continues to exceed public school district scores in the metro area, as well as state and national averages.

Blue Valley Schools was named to the 2020 Forbes Best-in-State Employers list, ranking in the top spot among Kansas employers. Coming in at number one, Blue Valley is the top-ranked K-12 school district in the Kansas City metro area and the top employer in the state.

On Monday, April 13, the Blue Valley Board of Education issued the first bonds from the 2020 bond referendum passed by district voters on January 28, 2020.

The Kansas State Department of Education issued the following statement on Sunday, March 15: As of Sun., March 15, Kansas Education Commissioner Dr. Randy Watson strongly recommends that those schools currently coming off of spring break, suspend operations for the week March 16-20.

Blue Valley bond election passes
Blue Valley voters have endorsed a $186,835,000 bond election 73.8 percent to 26.2 percent. The no tax rate increase bond will reinvest in facilities and technology, reinforce school safety and reimagine learning environments and programs that will benefit students and staff for years to come.
